William “Hoppie” Hopson

*William *Hoppie* Hopson was born April 12, 1926 to James and Mary Helen (Daniels) Hopson in Spiro, Oklahoma. He collapsed in his K.C home and quietly slipped away to be with the Lord on April 18, 2017. *He and his family moved to Haskell, OK when he was quite young. He grew up in Haskell and mriculed through their school system. Until his deh he continued to be active with the BTW Alumni Associion. *He united in marriage to his wife, former Lois Warren, on February 28, 1948. He was often quoted saying th he took serious his wedding vows before God. They remained married for 69 years. Prior to their marriage they each had two children and then three together. The children were all raised together. William worked as a truck driver for many different companies. His final position was with the City of Kansas City. He proudly served the city for 20 years+ and had been retired for 29 years. *William and Lois were dediced members of Emmanuel Church for 50 years. Until Lois was too ill to consistently tend church they faithfully tended and served. William was most proud of serving as a Deacon. *Preceding him in deh were his parents, four brothers: Jerry, James, Robert and Ronald Hopson; four sisters: Charlotte Hopson, Freda Singleton, Phyllis Mills, and Eugenia Ransom; four of his children: William L. Hopson, Jacqueline L. (Hopson) Cunningham, Sandra L. (Hopson) Goree and Charles E. Griffith. *William leaves to cherish his memory: beloved wife, Lois E. Hopson; daughter Cheryl A. Jones (Odis); sons: Richard D. Hopson and Howard Griffith; three sisters: Betty Allen, Barbara Riley and Connie Sanders; grandsons: Robert Goree, Cornelius Goree and William D. Hopson; granddaughters: Crystal Griffith Reed and Brianna Cunningham; 10 gre grandchildren; 4 gre-gre grandchildren.
