Obituary for Timothy Leon Green I
Tim Green I - ‘Big Tim’
July 31, 1974 - February 21, 2026
Timothy Leon Green I - a.k.a. Big Tim - passed away unexpectedly at home on February 21, 2026. He was born July 31, 1974 in Kansas City, Missouri to Debra Green (Moody) and was the eldest of five children. Tim was passionate about sports, especially the KC Chiefs and Royals. He was also an avid fan of the NBA and WNBA, as well as college sports. He loved cooking and could use a smoker or grill like a champion. His brisket was said to be better than any out there and was known to smoke anything his imagination could come up with from bologna to chili. He enjoyed playing poker with his buddies and games of all sorts with friends and family. While he was competitive at everything, it was a ‘play to have fun playing’ mentality- most of the time! Tim worked in flooring the majority of his life, starting with installing and ending as a measure technician for the last 23 years. He was often a ‘hired gun’ and traveled near and far for the companies he worked for (MeasureComp/Apex) filling gaps and training new technicians. In the end, he had formed lasting relationships that went well beyond the status of a simple employee. While living his entire life in the Kansas City area (predominantly Lee’s Summit and most recently Raytown), Tim also loved to travel recreationally and was ready to take a road trip any time the chance arose. From the Great Northwest to Florida and everywhere in between, he found immense joy in the open road. Repeated trips to Mexico and Jamaica were also a part of that journey. Having any members of his ‘tribe’ along made those adventures even more special. “Go. See. Do.” - a mantra he lived by and encouraged everyone to do the same. Tim was fiercely devoted to his family, especially his beloved wife - Stacey. They were married June 1, 2002 and welcomed their daughter Téah soon after, completing their family that included his older children, Tim II and Felicia. As a duo, they endured challenges, overcame obstacles and achieved accomplishments through a bond of love that was evident to everyone that knew them as a couple. Tim is survived by his wife and children, four grandchildren, his mother, three brothers and a sister, his brother in-law and family and many additional family members that loved him dearly. He also leaves behind his second family of friends that meant the world to him. They will all miss him immensely. A Celebration of Life will be held for Tim at a later date to accommodate loved ones near and far. Professional Services entrusted to the ELITE Funeral Chapel 11525 Blue Ridge Blvd., KCMO 64134.
