Obituary for Theresia Baston Jackson

Theresia Baston Jackson 94 passed away peacefully on June 20, 2017 was born May 29, 1923 in Jenks, Oklahoma to the union of Claude Baston and Hannah Coonhead-Baston. Theresia was the last member of her family from Creek Indian tribe descent. She was very proud of her Creek Nion heritage and made sure th her children knew th she was part of The Five Civilized Tribes made of Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek and Seminole. She shared stories of the gre Geronimo as well as childhood memories of being raised on the Creek (Muscogee) Indian reservion. Theresia’s parents reloced from the Indian reservion to Lee’s Summit, Missouri where she tended school in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She met and married Robert Hambright Brockman and to this union two children were born, Robert and Phy-liss Brockman. She ler married Filmore Jackson Jr. and to this union seven children were born, Micah, Stacy, Filmore III, Nancy, Walter, Theresia & Saundra’ Jackson. Theresia loved her family and was an exceptional mother and wife. Her children were her passion and she took pride in being a housewife who cared for all of them home until her youngest, Saundra’ tended high school. Thereafter, she began working Western Missouri Legal Aid as a switchboard operor until retiring after many years of service. Her love for children continued when she worked St. Anthony Cholic Church as a childcare parent, Della C. Lamb as a teacher, and the YWCA as a teacher’s aide. Theresia found beauty in colors. She never wore black clothes. She believed in wearing white and bright bold colors like the rainbow. Theresia Baston Jackson passed home with family by her side. Her parents, siblings, two husbands, and sons: Robert Tyrone Brockman, Micah Milo Jackson, & Filmore Jackson III, grandsons: Filmore Jackson IV, Mario Filaun Jackson & granddaughter Shalana Jackson, all preceded her in deh. She leaves to cherish her legacy, Sergeant Stacy Dean Jackson (Mandy) United Kingdom of England; Phy-liss Brockman-Wynn, Nancy Ashley (Stacy), Walter Jackson, Theresia Booth (Charles), and Saundra’ Jackson all of Kansas City, Missouri; several grandchildren, gre-grandchildren, & gre-gre grandchildren; sister in law Marie Philips; special cousins; Dorothy Baston, Leon Dixon, & Bonnie Simmons; special son in law Arthur Taylor; daughter in law Ethel Maze Brockman; play sisters Lucinda Dawkins, Htie Dean RIP; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear next door neighbors Ms. Willa & Kay.
