Obituary for Stephanie (Poo) Denise Saunders

Stephanie (Poo) Denise Saunders, passed away January 20, 2026 in Overland Park , Kansas. She was born August 23, 1966 in Kansas City to the union of Rodney Sanders and Viola Bean-Sanders, along with her twin brother Stephen.

Stephanie accepted Christ at an early age, she faithfully served at Faith Mission COGIC, sang in the Sunshine Band as well as the Youth Choir, she then became a member of Citadel of Prayer City of Hope where she served as the church secretary.

She attended Paseo High School along with her twin brother, she was a member of the ROTC program advancing to the rank of Major as well as being crowned ROTC Queen. After graduating from high school she went on to attend Colorado Technical University, majoring in business administration. Stephanie was employed by the Kansas City, Missouri School District in food service as a cook, and later obtained her Dietary Management Certification and managed cafeteria services various schools.

Stephanie loved writing poems and cooking, she was a gourmet Chef and could prepare any dish you could purchase in any fine dining restaurant. She loved to decorate for every holiday, dressing for every festive occasion, this even carried over to her work environment.

Stephanie and her twin brother Stephen where always nominated best dressed throughout their time at Paseo.

She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Saunders, Sr. sister Marilyn Sanders and brother Larry Bean.

Stephanie leaves to cherish her memory her father Bishop Rodney M. Sanders, her other Apostle Viola Sanders; sister Chantay Sanders; her twin brother Stephen Sanders (Dedria), brother Mark Bean (Anita); her children Larry Saunders, Jr., Laron Saunders, Sierra Saunders (Keisha); seven grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a host of uncles, aunts, neices, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friend Ethel Davis and the entire Cafeteria staff at Lincoln and Southeast High Schools.

Funeral Service held Saturday, February 21, 2026 at God’s House of Prayer Fellowship Center 5806 East 137th Street, Grandview, MO 64030. Visitation 11:00 to 12:00 Noon, service 12:00 Noon.
