Rheta Charlotte Henke

Rheta Charlotte Henke November 7, 1933 – December 18th, 2023 Prairie Village, KS Rheta (Maschman) Henke, 90, was born on a dairy farm near Daykin, NE to Herbert and Alma (Jordening) Maschman. She was the third of five children. Rheta graduated from Dakin High School and worked as a clerk for the Daykin Bank. She married Gordon Henke on September 5th, 1954. The couple moved to Kansas City, MO in the spring of 1955. Through the 37 years of Gordon’s career as a CPA, Rheta worked diligently as his assistant and office manager. Rheta’s life displayed kindness and hospitality. She worshiped and served at the Lutheran Church in many aspects, including the Altar Guild, choir, bell choir, various circles, and as a greeter. She supported the Leawood Country Club and its swim team. She used her masterful sewing skills to bless others. Rheta was beloved by her friends and family. Rheta is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gordon (July 5, 1934 – October 11, 2021) and her son, Doug (October 25, 1967 – January 2, 1992). She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Maurene (Rob), Greg (Janell), and Russell, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66206). A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, at 11:00am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30am. Attendees are invited to join the family for a light luncheon after the Service. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, immediately following luncheon.
