
Obituary for Polly Sue Cole-Allen
Polly Sue Cole-Allen was born April 23, 1940 to Samuel &Flora Hicks, in Malvern, Arkansas. They both preceded her in death. She attended Malvern, Ark. Public Schools. Polly then went on to attend Barber College and earned her Barber*s License. She later earned an Associate*s Degree from Penn Valley Community College, in Fashion Merchandising. She also earned a Bachelor*s Degree in Fashion Merchandising from Central MO State University. She earned a Double Master*s Degree in Theology from Carver Bible College in Kansas City, MO. She united in marriage with the love of her life, Charlie Cole in 1961, who preceded her in death. She was employed at Superior Toy Factory, Lake City Ammunition Plant and was also a professional seamstress, sewing for many people in the KC area. Polly also designed the entire wardrobe for Miss Black Missouri, who went on to compete in the Miss Black America Contest. Afterwards, she was employed as the Retail Manager at Montgomery Wards for 25 years, where she later retired. She then went on to substitute teach in the Linn Valley County School District. Polly was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, under the Pastorate of Preston Allen. She later joined Prince of Peace, under the leadership of Rev. C.L. Williams, where she served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Director of the Youth Usher Board, Youth Department and BTU. Later she joined Baptist Temple (Graceway) under the leadership of Truman Dollar, where she was an active member. Polly then moved to Linn Valley and attended Lin Valley Community Church, where she was an active member as well. She loved Bible Teaching and she originated many in home Bible Study Groups. Polly originated the Women's Retreat Ministry in Linn Valley, which is still active today! Polly's sole mission in life was to win souls for Christ, which led her to three mission trips, traveling to Ecuador, Kenya and the Philippines. She passed out many Bible Tracks across the world striving to save souls. Polly's only son, Roderick "Roddy" Cole preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish fond memories, her only daughter, Kim Greene, her only sibling, Sammie L. Hicks, her granddaughter, Latonia Brown (Jeremy); two great-grandsons, Braxton and Bradley Brown; three nieces, Flora "Cookie" Grayson (Charles), Stephanie Hicks-Meade (Ronald), Tina Johnson (Lonnie) and one nephew, John Hicks; five great-nieces, Robin, Raena (Demarreco), ReGina (Trey), Mary, Mya, and one great-nephew, Reginald "Reggie"; and a host of other close relatives, extended family, and many friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Prince of Peace Baptist Church 4301 Wabash, in Kansas City, Missouri visitation will be held at the church 10:00-11:00 AM with an 11:00 AM, funeral service.
