Obituary for Past Master Robert E. Murphy, Sr.
Robert was born on July 1, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Warren and Maxine Murphy. Robert is an only child of this union. Robert was united in marriage to Shirley Hoyle on October 25, 1966. Robert departed this life on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. His mother, Fher, Sister Jodie, Brothers Lance and Stacy preceded him in deh. Robert was educed in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, tending Garrison and W.W. Yes Elementary Schools, R.T. Coles Junior School and Lincoln Senior High School (Class of 1960). Robert served in the United Stes Army as a medic. In 1970, he was admitted into the Journeyman Painter Class of the Kansas City Plan Construction Trade School. Following the 3 year apprentice program, Robert earned the certificion of Journeyman Painter and then entered into the 1 year apprentice program for estimor. Robert was employed for 10+ years as a Union painter. In 1985, he was employed by the City of Kansas City MO., as an estimor in the Neighborhood Development Department where he retired in 1995. Roberts Masonic career started on May 25, 1972 when he was healed into the Amos Johnson Lodge #148. He was elected as Worshipful Master of the Lodge in December 1997 as Master of the Lodge he reinsted the annual Lodge Past Master Banquet program th continues to this day. Robert became a Life Member (Gold Card Stus) representing forty years of continuous membership in May 2012. Other Masonic activities included: In 1975 he became a member of the Kansas City Consistory #7 AASR, obtaining his 32 degree. In 1978, he entered into the Allah Temple #6 Shrine Temple in Kansas City, Missouri. Robert was an Honorary Past Potente of the Temple, as well as serving the office President of the Clod Hopper Clown Unit numerous times and currently services as Captain. In 2008 he became a Temple Life Member. Robert received numerous awards and recognitions for Community Services associed with his employment with the City. Robert joined Centennial United Methodist Church in 2015. He really enjoyed serving in the Good Shepherd Ministry and with the United Methodist Men. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife Shirley Murphy of 54 years, children Robin Bornemann (Chris), Robert Murphy Jr., Marcus Grayson, Everett Murphy, Donald Murphy, Tracy Murphy-Robinson, 14 grandchildren, 5 gre grandchildren, 3 brothers Warren Murphy Jr., Steven Murphy, Kenneth Murphy, 1 sister Alison Murphy-Forney and a host of nieces, nephews, relives and close friends.
