Ms. Mabel Byers-Williams

Ms. Mabel Byers Williams, age 83, departed her earthly journey into Glory on Thursday, February 20, 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born April 21, 1936 in Cleveland, Arkansas to the le Mr. Lewis Byers and Fannie Price Byers. She was the first born of four siblings. She was preceded in deh by both parents, her pernal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John “Dank” (Minnie) Byers; her mernal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Curtis (Lela) Price, her brother, Jeremiah “Jerry” Byers; and Daughter, Charlemagne Palacios; Sons, Donald Byers and Roger Brown. The family moved to Kansas City in 1944 and Mabel accepted Christ a very young age Metropolitan AME Zion Church where she sang in the choir and participed in youth services. She joined Covenant Presbyterian Church as an adult and remained a member for more than 20 years. She tended R.T. Coles High School and started raising her family in the Kansas City Area. Mabel worked for PicWick Hotel as an Elevor Operor for many years and then worked TWA as an Elevor Operor for ten years. She retired from St. Luke’s Hospital after more than 20 years as a Nursing Assistant in the Newborn Unit. Mabel was an immacule keeper of her home and enjoyed decoring, travelling and dressing up. She never had a strand of hair out of place. She leaves to forever cherish her life, her children, Jeanetta Brantley, Kansas City, MO, Roy Newton Brown, Kansas City, MO and Lester Edwin Groves of Parkville, MO; Sister, Majestic Williams, Kansas City, MO and Brother, Jerome (Vella) Byers, Sacramento, CA. She leaves her grandchildren, gre-grandchildren; gre-gre grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
