Obituary for Mrs. Nietia Lorraine Brasher

Nietia Lorraine Mock Brasher was born on November 28, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the oldest daughter of Rev. Zedkiahand Pearlene McConnell Mock. She was educed in the Kansas City, KS school district, graduing in 1974 from F.L. Schlagle High School. Upon graduing she received her BSM degree from Pittsburgh Ste University in Pittsburgh, KS. Over her 40 year work history she was employed several years KU Medical Center, Blue Cross Blue Shield, JCPenney and Colorectal Surgery Associion. Nietia lived her entire life in the Kansas City area where she met and married the love of her life, Bill (William) Brasher on October 9, 1993. Although she never had children,she was very close to her many nieces and nephews, where her nurturing spirit lives on today, She also served as a volunteer for Big Brothers and Sisters for many years. Nietia was a charter member of the Third Missionary Baptist Church, where served in many areas of ministry as President of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher and a Choir member. She was a diehard shopper who would never pass up a good sale. She has blessed many with her generous giving and compassione spirit. After being diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2013, Nietia has been a participant in the *GET YOUR REAR IN GEAR* annual walk in Kansas City to raise money for colon cancer research. She is preceded in deh by her fher; Rev. Zedkiah Mock and her brother; Landy Mock. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband; Bill (William) Brasher, mother; Pearlene McConnell Mock, brother; Ivan Mock, sisters; Varnessa Clanton, Vickie (Phil) Maddox, Carolyn (Brian) Wilson, Macie Taylor and Sister-in-law; Valeska Brasher of St. Louis, Missouri and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, loving relives and dear friends. Nietia was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
