Obituary for Mrs. Gwendolyn Ramsey (Tolbert)

Mrs. Gwendolyn Ramsey (Tolbert) was born to the union of Doris Tolbert and John Quincy Tolbert, May 16, 1956 KU Medical Center. Gwen was the youngest sibling and only daughter. She was preceded in deh by her parents. Gwen accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior an early age. Sister Ramsey tended Manual High School and was a part of the graduing class of 1974. Upon completion of high school, she pursued her passion in Nursing, working as an APRN Truman Medical Center. It was there she met and ler married her beloved husband, Hosea Ramsey III. Gwen also worked Samuel A Rodgers Health Center, KC, MO. Hosea and Gwen were married for 38 years until his passing in 2018. Together they were the proud parents of 6 children, Kynan, Hosea Ramsey IV (Deceased), Terrence, Phillip, Eric, and Precious Ramsey. Together Hosea and Gwen fostered over 20 children through the Black Adoption Agency of America. the tender age of 10 Gwen began taking piano lessons. Her piano lessons led her into the music ministry under the leadership of Pastor Robert B. Poe of The Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. After the deh of Pastor Poe, for a short while she served as a pianist Skylight Missionary Baptist Church. Gwen ler joined Temple of Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the le Pastor Dr. O Cordell Moore, and the le Pastor John F. Payne. She lovingly and faithfully, served as their pianist for over 20 years. Gwen faithfully prayed for Pastor Faulkner and her entire church family. She was a registered member of the Kansas City Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, founded by the le Reverend James Cleveland. Sister Gwendolyn Ramsey was a woman of gre strength, courage, and dignity. She exhibited gre character, high morals and Christian values. She was a fighter in spite of the many challenges she encountered. The strength of Sis Ramsey could be shown in her soft and kindhearted nure, and the graceful manner in which she endured life’s challenges. She leaves to cherish her memories two brothers John Lee and Kenneth Raymond Tolbert, four sons Kynan Jevon Ramsey, Terrence Ramsey, Phillip J. Ramsey, Eric Anthony Ramsey and one daughter, Precious Inez Ramsey, grandson’s Marcellus, Cory, Kendall, Myles, and Ethan- and a host of relives and friends.
