Obituary for Mrs. Gloria Pickens

Gloria Jean Pickens received her wings December 18, 2020 and departed this life 10:45 pm her home in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born in Milo, Oklahoma, Carter County on February 8, 1938 to Odessa Brown and Stevenson Crawford. Gloria, grew up in Milo Oklahoma and tended Roosevelt School. from there her life took another ph and purpose as a dediced and devoted wife and mother. She married Kenneth Pickens, Sr. in 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were a very committed and happily married for more than (60) sixty years even until their passing they are now again joined in the eyes of GOD. Gloria, began working as a housekeeper an early stage of her life the Ambassador Hotel on 11th. and Grand in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Ler in life over coming handwork and achieving many goals, receiving numerous awards and certifices . She became the head of housekeeping of not one but several hotels throughout the metropolitan area such as the Marriott downtown as well as in Overland Park. where she retired. After retirement she took a more active interest in her home and family, taking care of her children and most especially her beloved grandchildren, supporting her husband by being close to family and home. Gloria is preceded in deh by her parents, husband Kenneth Pickens Sr., two sons Kenneth Pickens, Jr. and Allen W. Pickens, two sisters flora Mae West and Annetta Jones, grandmother Htie Means and grandfhers A.B. Brown. She is survived by two daughters Ceola Charles and Sheryl D. Pickens; four sons curtis R. Brown(Deborah), Herman Brown(Rosa), Shawn Pickens and Tommy McMh(Cassandra); and a grandchildren, gre grandchildren and gre-gre grandchildren; seven brothers Obigene Murray(sally), Clifton Jackson(Tammy), Glennon Pickens(Nadine), donald R. Stevenson, Lindsey Stevenson, Willie C. Stevenson and Gary L. Stevenson; a host of neices, nephews, relives and friends.
