Obituary for Mrs. Christine Brown

Mrs. Christine Brown – Holmes 84,passed July 15, 2019 was born December 25, 1934 to Cherine Brown and Sherman Johnson in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Christine loved her Cholic Parish, she was dediced and loved tending the Legacy Center every Monday to knit and crochet, the group had prayer together every time they ghered. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for charity and for those in need. Christine was a dediced and faithful member St. Peters and her parish family and friends. She was an avid reader and had many book cases throughout the house, many of which she had read over and over again. she loved reading books by Louis L’Amore and Dean Koontz. She loved crossword puzzles and made sure she always had a cross word book with her, where ever she went. She was dediced to reading her bible every single day. Christine would faithfully kneel her daily specific prayer times. Her favorite singing artist were Al Green and Etta James. She loved to play cards with family and friends, her favorite card game was “Tonk” and she was good playing, many time this was the highpoint of her day. She took many people and some families into her home to provide a safe loving environment for others to live and be comfortable. In her younger years she loved to bowl and made sure to make it a family affair getting her children and other family members to join in, she had a passion for Kansas City Chiefs Football and would even dress in her chiefs gear just to wch the game. She yelled the TV like she was the stadium. She loved educion and obtaining more knowledge on subjects th interested her. Her passion for learning inspired her after graduing from RT Coles High School to go further to ST. Mary’s School of Nursing, ST. Joseph Hospital Nursing Program. Christine worked General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the OBGYN department, Truman Medical Center as lead nurse in 3 Gold where she remained for 53 years before retirement. Proceeding her in everlasting peace are her husband Martin Holmes Sr., parents Cherine Brown and Sherman Johnson Sr., brothers Nhaniel Brown, Jose Brown, Benjamin Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Sherman Johnson II, Sand Johnson, sister Rosie Mae Johnson, sons Rahn A. Brown, Steven Brown, Joseph Holmes and son in law James Russell. Christine leaves to cherish her loving memory daughters Courtney Jones, Monica Russell, Terri Johnson (Kenny); sons Martin Holmes II, Christopher Holmes; brothers Gary Brown, Robert Brown, Michael Brown; a host of grandchildren, gre-grandchildren, gre-gre grandchildren, neices, nephews, cousins and many other family members and friends.
