Obituary for Mr. Lee Andrew Cunningham

Lee Andrew Cunningham was born on Monday, March 26, 1934 7:30a.m. to Levi Cunningham and Cordelia Swinton in kins, Arkansas. He took his last breh early Sunday, September 12, 2021. He grew up in the family community of Happy Bend, Arkansas and tended the local schools in the area. Lee was drafted into the Army, October 9, 1956 and received a honorable discharge on September 27, 1957. (Eleven months and 19 days to be exact) He worked as a detailer for Don Stein Buick for many years. He was married to Azer L. Garrett, Beulah E. McCluney, Betty J. Caldwell and Georgia Beasley. Lee was a long-standing member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon board, choir, male chorus and briefly as a Sunday school teacher, singing was his passion and he could be heard throughout the community with several quartet groups. He was regularly called upon to sing solo various events. Lee was a man with extreme facial expressions, very fashionable in the wardrobe (or least he thought) and very, very fundamentally developed in his choice of words and if you came in contact with him you could say yes to th. One of Lee’s favorite saying were “butter rue (looking over his glasses) you alright”. There were many, many others but this setting does not allow those words to be mentioned. Lee was adamant on no five minute comments on his home going service, because as he put it he didn’t want folk lying. He also did not want no funeral foods as he called it. Damian Caldwell, Lee’s youngest son’s Tribute There will never be another Lee Andrew Cunningham…EVER!!!! One of the premium if not THE premium and godfher of quartet singers in Kansas City. He didn’t like pretty signing lol. If you’re going to sing…SING and he didn’t have any problem telling you or letting you know EXACTLY how he felt. He was my dad and I KNOW he loved me, my brother and sisters, You will be missed Pop, but you have earned your reward, Rest well dad Love you man. Lee was preceded in deh by his parents, sister Voicy Mae Stewart, son Derrick Beasley, wives Azer, Beulah and Georgia.
