Obituary for Mr. Johnny Stone
Johnny Stone began his pilgrimage on May 10, 1927 as the second blessing of (Robert) Lee Stone and Mamie Archie Stone. He seldom shared th his “real” name was John Baptist Stone. The family instilled in Johnny the importance of God and a spirit of entrepreneurship. After Johnny’s formal educion in Dawkins, South Carolina he and his brother owned and opered a saw mill with the specialty of pulp wood. Duty called and rher than be drafted Johnny chose to enlist into the United Stes Air Force. While stioned Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in Grandview, Missouri, a social, the former Jessie Mae Robinson caught his eye. “Th’s going to be my wife!” he exclaimed to his Airman buddies. On November 28, 1955 th exclaimed stement became a fact. The pilgrimage continued. Johnny served his time in the military and finally selected Kansas City, Missouri as the place to continue raising his family, Jacqueline, Johnny and ler Christopher made his grand entrance. When Johnny and Jessie became grandparents the pilgrimage took on a whole different level. They adored their grandchildren and gre grandchildren doing all they could for them. Johnny (and Jessie of course) provided an example to family, in addition to, extended family of wh trusting in God, studying His Word, service to others and work ethics meant. Once you became a part of the family you were a part of the family with no exit. Johnny retired from the United Stes Department of Agriculture after over 30 years of service. More important, Johnny served in a variety of ministries the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church including the Gospel Choir, Male Chorus, Senior Choir, Trustees, and the 7:00 a.m. Daily Prayer Service. His “journey through this barren land” ended peacefully as he listened to the Word of God on August 31, 2020 the Veterans Administrion Medical Center.
