Obituary for Mr. George M. Woodfork

George McKinley Woodfork was born to Clemmie Sr., and Bertha Harper Woodfork on February 17, 1952, in the Shiloh community, Bienville, Louisiana. George was the ninth of ten children. On March 29, 2021, George transitioned into eternity while residing the Life Care Center, 63301 E. 125th Street, Grandview, Missouri. George tended elementary, middle and high school in Bienville Parish, Bienville, Louisiana. In May 1970 he gradued from Shady Grove High School, Saline, Louisiana. George then went to Kansas City, Missouri to live with his sister Olivia and her husband London M. Bradley. His first job was Children Mercy Hospital in the Housekeeping Department. George also worked for the KWDOT Company assembling trucks. George had a Newspaper route for several years. George sold Insurance for Prudential Insurance Company for many years. George loved his church (Bowers Memorial CME Church). He served in many church leaderships positions this church. He was Chairman of the Steward Board: a Lay Leader: was chosen as a delege several times to tend the CME district Annual Conference. He also taught Sunday School for many years. George was a licensed Auto Mechanic. He owned and opered a Repair Shop on Prospect in Kansas City, Missouri for about 50 years. He sold the shop and retired a few years ago when his health started to fail him. His customers and others remembered and admired how fast he could inspect and issue Automobile Inspection stickers. George loved fishing. His sons and others will always remember the many times he would get up early in the morning and take his boys fishing. Another one of George’s famous tributes were telling funny jokes. George met and married Lovie “Doris” Lewis in 1977. George was preceded in deh by his wife of forty years, Lovie “Doris” Woodfork, his parents, Bertha Harper Woodfkork and Clemmie Woodfork Sr., 3 siblings Joe Walter Woodfork, sister Cleo Mariah Woodfork (died age 3 days) and sister Ruthie Maxie Woodfork. (died age 3 years) George leaves to cherish his memories 1 daughter Nicole Horton, 3 sons Michael Woodfork , George Derrell Woodfork and George Gerrell Woodfork . 6 siblings Calvin Woodfork (Mary) Shreveport, Louisiana, Mary Jones, Lhonia, Georgia, Olivia Bradley, Milton, Georgia, Clemmie Woodfork Jr. Grandview, Missouri, Jerry D. Woodfork Sr. (Thelma) lanta, Georgia, Gregory Charles Woodfork (Freedonia) Kansas City, Missouri. 1 sister-in-law, Doris Woodfork, Surprise, Arizona,1 Aunt, Naomi Woodfork, Dayton, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, and a host of relives and friends.
