Obituary for Makih Michael Franklin

Makih Michael Franklin was born on January 14, 2005, to Brandon Franklin and Shanika Green. From the start, he carried a light and a presence you could feel the moment he walked into a room.He grew up surrounded by family, faith, and community. Makih attended Kiddie Kollege, Bertram Caruthers Elementary, Westridge Middle School, and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 2023. He was baptized at Mt. Olive in 2015, a moment that shaped his faith and grounded his outlook on life.As a young adult, he worked at Urban Air and CVS before joining Research Medical Center as a transporter. Wherever he worked, he showed up ready to help, ready to work, and brought positive energy. People remembered him for his respect, kindness, and natural ability to connect.Makih loved sports * especially basketball * took drum lessons, loved music, and enjoyed traveling to places like New York City and Jamaica. He also loved attending NBA games and talking about them for weeks. He had a bold sense of style and loved designer brands like Amiri, Balenciaga, and Purple Jeans. Makih didn*t just get dressed * he made a statement every time.Above all, Makih loved his people. He adored his mother and made sure she always felt his love. Family meant everything to him, and he was present for every birthday, graduation, and celebration. If you invited him, he showed up.Beyond his style and talents, he was a genuinely good young man * funny, charismatic, respectful, and humble. His smile could shift a room, and he made people feel seen and comfortable. He was someone you were always happy to run into.Even though his father passed when he was a baby, so much of Brandon lived through him * in his smile, his con8dence, and the way he carried himself. His life was a reminder that love and legacy live on through our children. Makih was preceded in death by his father, Brandon Franklin; his paternal grandfather, Donald Franklin; his great grandfathers George Green, Donald Davis, and John Leaphart; and his great grandparents Richard and Marlene Larry. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Shanika Green; his brother, Eyce Lamb; his maternal grandparents, Anthony Green and Trina Post-Hunter (Terry Hunter); his great grandmothers Zella Davis and Verna Post; and his paternal grandmother, Beverly Franklin, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who became family. Though his time here was short, Makih lived fully * he laughed, loved deeply, traveled, and created memories that will last forever. His presence will continue to live in every heart he touched.
