Lovie Woodfork

Mrs. Lovie “Doris” Lewis Woodfork, was born August 6, 1951 in Henderson, Texas to the union of Sullivan T. Lewis and Beenie Lee Taylor Lewis. She was preceded in deh by her parents; her brothers, Oreelious, L.D., and sisters, Linda Mae and Brenda Mae Lewis. Lovie confessed her life to Christ an early age ans was baptized Pine Hill C.W.F.F. Church of the Living God in Pine Hill, TX. She graduted from Hill High School in Henderson, TX and then moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1971. After moving to Kansas City, she met the love of her life, George Woodfork and they were married on August 19, 1977. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sisiter-in-law and friend but most of all, she was a Christian. Lovie was employed by Western Electric for several years and Tension Envelope for over 40 years. She was a fihful and dediced member of Bowers Memorial C.M.E. Church for 30 years, where she served in numerous positons, the last being Choir President. She loved to sing Gospel songs and she had a resounding voice th would make you get up and start praising the Lord. Lovie was also an excellent cook; however, she was truly known most for her baking skills, she made delicious cakes! Lovie departed this life on October 6, 2017. To cherish her legacy she leaves her husband(George); 3 sons Michael Woodfork, George Derrell Woodfork, George Gerrell Woodfork; 2 daughters Michelle Fletcher, Nicole Horton; 7 siblings, Arnie Fletcher, Clyde Lewis, Nancy Thomas, Mary Wson, Rev. Melvin Lewis, Sr. (Denise), Mervin “Gene” Lewis (Sharon), Charles Lewis; 4 brother-in-laws Calvin (Mary), Rev. Jerry (Thelma), Clemmie and Gregory (Freedonia) Woodfork; 3 sister-in-laws Mary Jones, Olivia Bradley and Doris Woodfork 6 grandchildren, 4 gre-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relives and friends. Special sisters, Denise Estrada and Marian Woodfork, special friends, Lonnie and Mtie Sullivan and Bobby Joe and Christine Walker.
