Leoma Rivers

Leoma Rivers was born June 23, 1952 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to Ida Bell and Leon Rivers. She grew up and was educated in the Kansas City School district graduating from Central High School in 1970. She was employed as a Unit Secretary for nearly 20 years at Research Medical Center before switching to a more hands on patient care role. She spent the remainder of her career providing care to patients in various healthcare settings, prior to retirement from Bishop Spencer Place. She continued to be involved and active in many events, programs and activities at her home church Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. R.L. Holt and later Pastor Robin Morgan. Throughout her life she remained outspoken and outgoing, making friends wherever she went. There was nothing she enjoyed more than hanging out with family, friends, sharing life, love and lots of laughs. Loema, is preceded in transition by both parents, a granddaughter Alaesia Boyd and two special nieces Lisa and Marla Cadenhead. She is survived by her two children Jawan Tyson and Monique Rivers; siblings Ida Cadenhead, Cornelia Rivers, Johnny Lee Winkfield, Larry Rivers, Ruby Jean Winkfield, Julia Braziel, Angela Strong; a special cousin/sister Judith Rivers; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and many church friends.
