Obituary for Katrina Thomas

Katrina was born on February 23,1960, in Kansas City, Mo to Alfred and Etha Mae Thomas. She was the oldest of 4 girls born to this union. Katrina was proceeded in death by her parents (Alfred & Etha Mae Thomas), a sister (CyNita Nash), a niece (Fayeshia Scaife), and both sets of grandparents (paternal – Winton & Maybell Thomas) (maternal – Emeal & Beatrice Nash).

Katrina confessed to Christ at an early age at Emanual Baptist Church under the leadership of W.H. White.

Katrina graduated from Southeast Senior High School in 1978. While there, she was a member of R.O.T.C. for all 4 years, as well as cheerleading from 9th – 11th grade. She taught her version of the 2-step dance to those that wanted to learn it. The Haves and The Have Nots was her favorite drama series. She enjoyed cooking, skating, bowling, concerts, playing cards, and going to the casino.

Katrina also loved feeding others and sharing laughter over good food. Above all, she cherished her family deeply, finding her greatest happiness in moments spent with her children and loved ones. She had a contagious laugh, a giving spirit, and a way of finding light even in difficult times.

In 2010, Katrina had a stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side, so she was limited on some of the things that she loved doing. The most important thing is that the stroke didn’t stop the love and helpfulness that she had for her family and friends. If she could help in any way, she did just that.

Katrina’s earthly journey came to an end on May 7, 2026, at her home. She leaves to cherish her memories, her kids Terry (Ashley) of KCMO, CyKaishia of BSMO, Curtis Jr (Jamesa) of KCMO, and LaToya of BSMO, a special niece (Chameka Nash) of LA, sisters Lydia (Dave) of CA, Velma of CA, Demetria (Donnie Sr) of KCMO, Donna (Clyde) of BSMO, and Cassandra of BSMO, 18 grandkids, 8 great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews.
