Obituary for Joseph McClain

Joseph McClain 85 was born September 28, 1931, Flora and Benjamin McClain, Sr. welcomed a loving baby boy, Joseph Everett McClain On August 20, 2017, Joseph loved his “Last Train to Glory”. Affectionely known as “Mr. Joe”. He united in marriage in 1961 to Blanche V. Willis who preceded him in deh. preceded him also his parents, two sisters, Floris and Lovey, son John L. Willis, two daughters, Sharon Kay Willis and Charlene Gunnels. Mr. Joe tended public school in Kansas City, Kansas, graduing from Sumner High in 1950. Mr. Joe was employed for a short time Swift Packing House, after leaving Swift he started working the Kansas City Star in the White Paper Room. He worked the Star approximely 50 years after which her retired. Mr. Joe loved music, trains and Fire Trucks. During the early years of his life he always carried a radio where ever he went. If a fire truck passed by he would follow. He spent a lot of time riding trains and sitting by the railroad tracks just to see the trains rolling down the tracks. Mr. Joe also loved to play Bid Whiz and Dominoes, while playing Bid he often would take the winning card he had and slap it on his forehead. During the gamed and all gherings he was designed “DJ’ playing some of his favorite artist. Teddy Pendergrass, Marvin Gaye, and the O’ Jays. Mr. Joe leaves to cherish fond memories daughters, Joan Willis, Chevonne Henderson (Ray III), Sons Roberts Willis, Joel McClain, Brother Benjamin McClain Jr., Grandchildren Yvette Washington (Damon), Shalonda Crawford, Kenya Turner, Lakeisha Henderson, Tearra Henderson, Shelita Henderson, Ronald Gunnels Jr., Clinton Gunnels, Snoopy Gunnels, Thomas Henderson, Ray Henderson III, Deon Willis, Deallo Pruitt, 51 Gre grandchildren and 14 Gre-gre grandchildren. Special niece Syvil Parks, special cousins, Betty Looney, Pricia Mallard, James Rankins, son-in-law Ronald Gunnels Sr. and Eddie Turner. Special nephews, Glenn Hemingway and Alfred Brown; Also a host of loving relives and friends.
