Obituary for Jessie Mae Davis

Jessie Mae Davis 90 was born in Bearden Arkansas to Birdia and Simuel Jones, on November 24, 1927. She was the youngest of six children. On the morning of March 14, 2018 she earned her heavenly wings, and went home to be with the Lord, because “Heaven was her goal, each and every day.” She is preceded in deh by her husband, John Edward Davis, parents, three brothers, Zealous, James, and Simuel Lee, three sisters, Milnee, Mary Anna, and her twin sister, Bessie, and her beloved grandson, Michael Tywan Davis. Jessie received her childhood educion in Bearden, Arkansas. As a child she loved to play basketball, and has always had a passion for cooking. Her formive years were spent surrounded by her nieces and nephews. Jessie accepted Christ a very early age and was a devoted and sincere servant of God. In 1955, Jessie united in holy mrimony to John Edward Davis, and their family continued to grow. Their six children included, Mary, Earnest, the twins, Ronald and Donald, Timothy and Lora Ann. The family moved to Kansas City, Kansas where they made their home. In 1969, they united with the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, under the pastore of the le Pastor I.G. Gaines. On January 25, 1971, Jessie lost the love of her life, John Edward Davis. With the help of the Lord, she continued on raising her family, and being a faithful grandmother and caregiver. Jessie continued serving Mount Sinai under the pastore of Pastor Elijah Clark, Jr., where she was a member of the Adult Choir and Mass Choir. She served as Deaconess and was a faithful member of the Sunday school until her health began to fail. Jessie’s favorite songs were “Heaven is My Goal” and “Bread of Heaven.” She enjoyed family gherings, and also enjoyed fellowship with anyone who would just stop by. Jessie was an awesome cook and you couldn’t be her famous dressing and sweet poto pie. Jessie departed this life Wednesday, March 14, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memories, Four Sons: Earnest (Rosetta) Lambert, Kansas City, Kansas; Ronald (Marquita) Davis, Lees Summit, Missouri; Donald (Jennifer) Davis, Olhe, Kansas; Timothy (Tanya) Davis, Piper, Kansas. Two Daughters: Mary Hawkins, Phoenix, Arizona; Lora (Delbert) Selectman, Kansas City, Kansas. 20 Grand Children, 19 Gre-Grand Children, 4 Gre-Gre Grand Children, and a host of Nephews, Nieces and Friends.
