Jerry DuRay Nickens

Jerry DuRay Nickens 54 was born to the union of Roy L. and Janice Nickens on June 30th, 1962 in the town of Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised in the Kansas City school district and tended elementary J.J. Pershing and Southeast High School. Jerry also went to Wrights Business School and the Upper Bound program Rockhurst University. the time of Jerry’s deh he was employed UMKC. Jerry departed this life August 5, 2016 and was preceded in deh by his grandmother, Jennie Dardy, grandfhers, Ray Britt, Fred Nickens, and Uncle Fred, Jr. His gre aunts: Lemell and Cousins also, stepfher Michael Johnigan. He was married to Kay Brookins on May 13, 1995; and to this union joined two step sons, Tyrone and Robert Brookins of Fulton, Missouri. Jerry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fulton, MO. and was baptized in November of 1995. He returned to Kansas City, MO. in May of 1999 after his divorce from Kay. Jerry had a personal relionship with the Lord. He loved everyone but especially his mother, Janice; his number one lady. Jerry always had a smile on his face regardless of any problem. He would say, “God’s got this.” He loved life fully. the good, bad, and the ugly. He loved music, dancing, and he also enjoyed singing. His nieces Kina, Lydaisia, Antana as well as his gre niece, LeAsia (Little Pretty) were his pride and joy. His only brother, Rudy, but most of all he loved the Lord. His favorite scripture was Mthew 6:9–13 (The Lord’s Prayer) “Pray then like this: ‘Our Fher in heaven, hallowed is your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temption, but deliver us from evil. For you are the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory. Amen.” He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother Janice, fher Roy, brother Rudy, stepsister Kim, stepbrothers, Aaron and Roy, Jr.; his aunt, Ruby Smallwood, gre aunts Mary, Scott, and Vera Mae Nickens; his niece, Kina, gre nieces, LydAsia, Antana and gre-gre niece, LeAsia as well as a host of cousins and friends; special friends Tanya (Bo) and Tresa.
