Obituary for James Taylor

James Taylor 66 was born 1951 to the union of James and Jacqueline Taylor Camp Stoneman Army base in Pittsburgh, California. In 1952 after his fher was discharged from military service the family returned to St. Louis, Missouri. In 1970 James entered the United Stes Army and was honorably discharged in 1972. In 1975, James reloced to Kansas City, Missouri, from 1976 to 1978 he was a surgical tech St. Lukes hospital. In 1978 he joined the staff the Jackson County Department of Corrections, as a corrections officer. In 1984 became director of the Reach Out Program, monitoring hundreds of kids encouraging them to stay off of drugs and out of jail and to complete their educion. In 1988 he joined the Kansas City, Missouri as a security officer Van Horn High School for over twelve years. While there he mentored hundreds of risk youth, helping them to stay on track for graduion. James was affectionely known as “Mr. T or Mr. Taylor”. He also worked several area half way houses. In 1997 he became a corpore security officer with the Marriott Hotel Chain, and in 1999 as a security officer with Children Mercy Hospital retiring in 2014. He leaves to cherish with loving memories a very special brother Michael Taylor, brother Kevin Taylor; four sisters Judith Shenauld, Crystal Harris, Melody Taylor and Gabrielle Sutterfield; daughters Kelsye Belcher (who took care of her fher during his transition), Janese Taylor, Kedra Littlejohn and Rita McHenry; Grandchildren Serenity, Kahlon, Kendal ( his Little Buddy), Jaylen and Jordan, a host of nephews and neices and many relives. He was preceeded in transition by; his parents, brother Robert D. Taylor, neice Robin Taylor, nephew Alphonso Chapple Taylor, grandparents Fred and Elizabeth Taylor and Rev. Virginia Reece. Special friends, The Back to Basics Singing Group James Anderson and Gary Brian; special nephew LeRoy Taylor, very special friend Denise Bass “thank you being there and having my back”; a very special friend Jonesa Tilford ” your kindness and understanding got him through it all. I love you Janese and Kelsye. We love you all
