Obituary for Evelyn Elaine Criswell-Allen
Evelyn Elaine Criswell-Allen was born in Springfield, Arkansas to the union of John Henry and Arritha Criswell. Evelyn was the seventh born into this union. She tended grade school Holly Springs and Union Chapel in Springfield. Once a gradue from Menifee High School she was led to tend Arkansas AM&N College. She accepted her destiny an early age. Follower of God. Being a strong, hard working woman, filled with integrity, loyalty, and persistence she was allowed to accomplish many goals and dreams. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri and became a member of The Veteran Temple CME Church which was ler renamed Rosser-Simpson CME Church in memory of the two veteran ministers Dr. L.E.B. Rosser and Rev. R.A. Simpson. Evelyn was a charter member and a huge pillar in her community. Because she was so faithful and diligent she held many positions th included Sunday School Secretary, Choir Program Chairman, and Lay President. While meeting and greeting with prominent people in the community she was able to present Christmas plays and Black History programs which aired on “Your Church and Mine” (WDAF Channel 5). They were unique and original. She would have a real baby to portray Jesus in the manger. She served on many committees and participed in numerous organizions helping to shape very solid foundions th still continue to thrive Evelyn travelled the world to visit Munich, Australia, Paris, Africa, Turkey, China, and The Holy Land. God called our mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend for another journey…… And this trip will be the last entry on her passport……. October 31, 2015. Preceding her in deh were her parents John and Arritha Criswell, two brothers, Edward and Joe (Gizmo) Criswell, five sisters Anna Criswell, Louchia Owens , Virgie Nolen, Mittie Riley, and Mildred Cain. A close cousin Oneha Kemp, and a special niece Brenda Coleman. She leaves 4 Generions to continue her legacy. One daughter, Octavia Elaine Williams; Two grand-daughters, Danna La’Trice Jackson-Hines and Kara Le’Ann Williams; One gre grand-daughter, Phylishia Ra’Shad Jackson; And One gre-gre grand-daughter La’Trice Unique Evans. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
