Evelena Mixson Long

Mrs. Evelena Mixson Long 79 was born June 17, 1936 to the le B. Marchel Mixson and Marie B. Mixson in Augusta, Georgia. Evelena was the youngest girl of four siblings. The Lord called her to rest peacefully in her home while asleep on the morning of May 25, 2016. Evelena accepted Christ and was baptized an early age. She was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in her hometown and she gradued from Lucy C. Laney High School. Shortly after, she met the love of her life Mr. Robert James Long. They united in marriage on December 1, 1954 and were able to spend 56 loving years together. During this time their wonderful union was blessed with four children. In the le 1990’s, Evelena retired from &T where she worked as a Da Processor. Evelena was an extremely creive and crafty person. You could always count on her to be working on something amazing whether it was one of her family famous afghans or working on ceramics. She truly enjoyed knitting and arts & crafts. She was also very fond of shopping; especially thrifting Cargo Largo and Red Racks or eing Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral. Evelena was also a Breast Cancer Survivor and as of 2016 had successfully completed both chemotherapy and radiion. Mrs. Long is preceded in deh by her husband Robert James Long; two sisters Marie B. Davis and Milda Bell; one brother Henderson Davis and son William James Long. She leaves to cherish her sweet memories her sister Rosa B. Lewis (Augusta, GA); two daughters Nadine (Louis) and Kimberly and one son Bobby James; grandchildren RaSheena, Bonita (Donsha’ & 5 children), Malinda, Robert and Kenya (Erica). Evelena was known as GiGi by her gre-grandchildren Makeyia, Markell, I’Keese, JaiVon, Robert Jr. (GA), Ja’Lynne, Kenyan, Marvez, Shakeena, A’Driayon and Ter’Reila all of KCMO. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
