She was president of the Olympians club, Honor Society, Concert Choirs, Girls Glee Club and various other organizations. Mama Ronetta furthered her education at Lincoln University of Missouri majoring in Music Education. While there, she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in 1965 and Sigma Alpha Iota Professional Music Fraternity for Women amongst other organizations. She was also a member and Past Matron of Lone Star Chapter #2 Order Eastern Star, MWPHGLofMO. She was baptized at the age of four and was a faithful, dedicated lifetime member of Bethel AME Church. "Let her tell it," she was a member since the womb. Though she served in many areas, her calling was evangelism and an accomplished music director. Mama Ronetta was employed for forty six years with the Kanas City Missouri Public School District as a dedicated and loved music teacher and retired in 2014. In 1971, she married Jimmie Lawrence Buford and from this union, one child, Frederrick Kenyatta Buford, was born. She later married the love of her life, Rodney Leroy Brown in 2007, who preceded her in transition in 2017. There were no children born to this union. To know her was to truly love her. Mama Ronetta, with many achievements and accolades, was best known for her role to many as *Mama, Mom or Auntie! She would tell you, don*t call her *Mother Buford/Brown*call me "Mama or Mom, or Ma!" She had a heart after God's own heart. She received you with open arms, loved you without judgement and would pray god*s protection over you. She was definitely "one in a million."
