Ernest Dornelle Lewis

Ernest Dornelle Lewis, passed away February 3, 2026 at home surrounded by loving family. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 8, 1978 to Teresa M. Lewis and Ernest D. Hooker. He was the eldest of three children.

His beloved mother Teresa Coates, stepfather Keith Coates and brothers Kenneth and Anthony Lewis, maternal grandparents Garland and Evangelist Gloria J Lewis, paternal grandparents Cecil and Queen Esther Hooker all proceeded him in earthly transition.

Ernest received his formal education in the Kansas City Missouri School District graduating from Ruskin High School. He had a passion for carpentry and plumbing, he worked for Decks by Design,

Ernest loved his life partner and companion of twenty-Nine years Gina Scheerer.

He leaves to cherish with fond memories his sons Eric Arduous and Emille Warren; daughter Ginelle Scheerer; life partner Gina Scheerer; father Ernest D. Hooker; brother D’Wayne Coates; sister Alysia Coates; grandsons Jaden Lewis and and Emry Warren, niece A’Lonna Burk and a host of aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
