Obituary for Elder Clarence Andrew Taylor, Sr.

Clarence Andrew Taylor was born on March 3, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was next to the youngest of eight children born to Elmer & Isabelle Taylor Sr. Clarence was baptized at St. James Baptist Church as a teenager. He attended and graduated from Central High School in 1963. He worked for Montgomery Wards for several years. Clarence followed his passion for beauty and enrolled in Madam CJ Walker Beauty School and graduated in 1965. He started his business in the basement at 2934 Brooklyn and then at 3224 Olive. Finally, he opened the Pilgrimage Boutique Beauty & Candle Shop. His business thrived and he participated in hair shows and made beautiful hairstyles for many ladies and at times fixed their hair at no cost. Clarence was a member of St. Mary*s Grand Holy Tabernacle Church where he was ordained by the late James B. Smith as an Elder. He kept the building after St. Mary*s changed their location. He had a mission that was titled First Church of Deliverance. Clarence was a member of the These are They Community Choir for several years. Clarence was the father to Clarence Andrew Taylor II (CATII), who died at an early age from Brain Tumor. This was devastating for Clarence and his entire family. He was a devoted brother, father, and uncle, who loved spending time with his family. He went to his final resting place on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Life Care Center of Grandview. Clarence leaves to cherish his memories, are his sisters Eartha Lee Ersery and Loretta Lockridge of Kansas City and one brother Jerry Dean Taylor (Sheila) of Chicago, Ill, his adopted son, Franklin Fisher; many nieces and nephews and a host of beloved relatives and friends. Clarence*s love, kindness, and the cherished memories he created will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Waiting to meet him in glory are: his parents Elmer & Isabell Taylor Sr.; brothers, Olee (Rose), Lewis, Elmer Jr. "Fudd", Freddy (Shay), and his son Clarence Andrew Taylor II.
