Darryl Walker, Sr.

Darryl Walker (62), of Kansas city, Missouri passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 at University Health Care Center (Truman Medical Center), surrounded by loving family. He was born January 12, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Turner Lee Walker, Sr. and Adele Martin-Walker. Darryl is preceded in transition by both parents, brothers Turner L. Walker Jr., Andre' Walker and Nathaniel Walker; sisters Stephanie Walker, Shelia Harrell and Helen Greene. He professed hope in Christ at an early age and grew up attending ST. Stephen's Baptist Church, where his faith and values were rooted. He received his primary education in the Kansas City, Missouri School District he attended VanHorn High School until the 11th grade and obtained his General Equivalency Degree and later his certification as an X-Ray Technician. He worked in X-Ray at Children's Mercy Hospital for over 35 years until retirement in 2015, where he was admired for his skill, kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Darryl loved life and those around him. He found joy in dancing, listening to music, watching his favorite western movies, spending time with family and friends. His laughter was contagious and he had a special gift for making everyone feel loved and welcome. He is survived by his wife Traci Walker of the home; his children Darryl Walker Jr. and Tiara Walker; grandchildren Dariana Walker, Darryl Walker III, Devin Cannon-Walker, DeAnna Cannon-Walker, Tara Wigfall, Damir Walker, Te'Yon Love, and Ta'Riyah Love; great-grandchild Ivy Schoemehl; his loving sisters Cynthia Byers(Shawn), Diedra Phillips(Allen) Carol Walker and Kathy Gray(Carl). Darryl shall be remembered for his vibrant spirit, love of two stepping and the way he took great care of his family. His legacy of love, laughter and dedication will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him. Funeral Service Held Saturday, October 18, 2025.
