Obituary for Cheryl Zeno

Cheryl was born January 12, 1963, in Kansas City, KS to Willie and Clara McGee. Cheryl was the youngest child of five children born to this union. Cheryl was preceded in deh by her sister, Regina Vickie Renee’ (5/22/83), her fher, Willie McGee (5/17/1999), and her brother Bruce McGee (7/28/2019). Cheryl made her transition peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022, surrounded by her family. Cheryl tended elementary schools in both Kansas City and Hickman Mills school districts. She was recognized by her teachers as being very smart because she always finished her schoolwork early and was able to help her classmes. She gradued from Ruskin High School in 1981. She received numerous awards and was well respected for her hletic skills and abilities in volleyball, basketball, and track & field. She set and broke records in her hletic abilities th stood well after she gradued from Ruskin. After graduing from Ruskin, Cheryl had an interest in cosmetology and for a period of time tended cosmetology school. Cheryl was baptized a very early age Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion church under the leadership of then Pastor O.D. Carson. As a youth, Cheryl was a member of the Marching Cobras. Cheryl loved to ske and was so good it she got the opportunity to travel. When she was old enough to drive herself to the sking rink, th is where you could usually find her showcasing her skills. She also loved to 2-Step. Cheryl loved to bowl, she played the piano, and she loved traveling. She went on so many cruises and vacions they are too numerous to count. She also loved to travel around the country. She also loved vintage arcade games; like Ms. PacMan and Btlestar Galactica were two of her absolute favorites. Cheryl was a very special person with many talents and such a kind and generous spirit people couldn’t help but migre to her. She touched so many lives with her kind personality, her huge heart and infectious smile. She was always willing to help others no mter if she knew you or not. Cheryl just had a love and desire to help people. Most people would remember her time she worked Pizza Hut. She would not let you go hungry, and your pizza was always perfect. She loved planning and tending her family reunions and did whever she could to make them fun and memorable. Cheryl loved to have a good time with family, friends, and co-workers. Cheryl loved her community and it showed. She planned fundraisers, and charity events and took gre pride in the success of them. She will be sorely missed in our community. Cheryl was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. She would sport her Chiefs flags, banners, clothes and just about anything Chiefs. Her favorite color of course is red. If you really knew Cheryl, you know th any given time she would be working 2-3 jobs the same time. She started working a very early age according to her mother. one time, she would babysit or braid hair in the family driveway to earn money. Cheryl was also an entrepreneur and manager a very early age. Cheryl went around to her neighbors asking about cutting their grass. She then hired some neighborhood boys to cut the grass, she collected all the money and then she paid the boys wh she thought it was worth. Cheryl has worked for Sambos Restaurant, Research Medical Center, Bennigan’s, Pizza Hut (34 years) and Jackson County Parks & Recreion. She sold Avon, Mary Kay, t-shirts, and mtresses. Cheryl was definitely a salesperson and a go-getter! The last job she held was the United Stes Postal Service as a Mail Processing Clerk for nearly 26 years. She worked there from October 1996 until her health began to fail in approximely August 2022. She was lovingly known as Ms. Cheryl and was well respected and loved by many of her co-workers. She was known for helping her co-workers in any way she could and for being a hard and dediced worker. She could always be counted on to assist and organize community service and outreach events/activities the Post Office. Cheryl was a proud mother of two daughters, Tosha and Jasmine. Cheryl loved her daughters and was devoted to their well-being. She ensured th Tosha and Jasmine had everything they needed from their birth and into their adulthood. As any proud mother would do, she made many sacrifices for them, and was very proud of their accomplishments and achievements. Cheryl loved her family and did wh she could to help them whenever she could. She loved and nurtured many children who considered her like their other mother. Her daughters can fondly recall the birthday parties and other celebrions she had for them as they were always over the top. Cheryl went above and beyond to ensure all the children around her had wh they needed including involving them in dance school, sports, and music, which she willingly paid for. Cheryl was a devoted and loving daughter to her parents. Cheryl married Jude Zeno, Sr. on March 16, 2002. They celebred 20 years of marriage this year (2022) surrounded by family and friends. Cheryl Marie Zeno leaves to cherish her love and memories: Husband, Jude A. Zeno, Sr., daughters, Tosha Byers (fiancé Thurman Johnson), and Jasmine McDonald; mother, Clara McGee; brothers, James (Jim) McGee, and Don McGee (Mary); nieces, TaQuenna McGee, Rebecca McGee, and DeMesha Jackson; nephew Tre’von McGee; stepchildren Jude A. Zeno, Jr, and Jeanne Zeno, and a host of relives and many friends.
