Barbara Marie Williams

Barbara Marie Williams passed away at her home in Kansas City Missouri on November 11th 2024 she was born at KU medical center on July 30th,1955 to Helen Jean Williams and Fred simington she was educated in the Kansas City Missouri public schools. She graduated from Manuel high School in 1973 and received her bachelor's degree and two masters degrees from Rutgers University in Brunswick, New Jersey. Barbara accepted Christ at a young age. Barbara joined St. Stephen Baptist Church in Kansas City Missouri where she was baptized by Dr. John W. Williams. She was on the usher board.  Later in life she attended Unity Village Temple in Kansas City Missouri. Barbara was only interested in one young man when we were in high school. She married her high school sweetheart Homer Pledger on October 11, 2003. No children were born to this union.  They enjoyed traveling, especially overseas to Germany and France where her husband served in the U.S. Army.   Barbara worked for Armstrong Teasdale Law Firm in Kansas City, Missouri and then she worked at IRS where she retired in March 2024. She was an Executive Assistant Barbara is survived by her sister Brenda Long (Wilbert) two great nieces Dr LaShonda Kaye Barnett and Lisa W. Perry, Three great nephews Jordan  Searcy, Aaron Searcy and Logan Perry and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at the ELITE Funeral Chapel 11525 Blue Ridge Blvd., KCMO.
