Obituary for Burnester Spears

Burnester Spears, was born on December 5, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas, to the union of Herman Serrell, Sr. and Beatrice Serrell. She is preceded in death by both of her parents. She received her education at Sumner High School in Kansas City, KS. She attended Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C. B. Bailey. Later she attended Greater Pentecostal Temple (GPT) under the leadership of Bishop Marvin E. Donaldson where she was a current member. Burnester was an avid follower of Jesus and a prayer warrior. She sang in the choir and helped in the kitchen. Burnester, affectionately known as *Nessa Bell*, was a kind-hearted person who loved spending time with her friends and family. Always ensuring she has a memorable time at any party she attends. She was a very stylish person. She loved her hats and her dress suits. Her favorite color was yellow. She wore yellow all the time. Her husband even painted her a yellow house. Burnester developed a passion for cooking. She worked many different jobs where she cooked and served others. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her family loved when she cooked her famous macaroni and cheese. She loved baking pies and cakes. She loved to dance. She was the life of anything we had, such as family gatherings, birthday parties, etc. She really enjoyed gospel music. When her husband, Nubbie, would play music at home she loved to dance with him. She loved to travel. One of her favorite places to travel to was Blackwell, Arkansas with her husband and children to visit family. She also loved traveling to Detroit, Michigan to visit her brother, Herman Serrell, Jr. She leaves to cherish in her memory her loving husband of 47 years, Donnie Spears *Nubbie*. Her two children, Denise Baker and Donald Spears. Five grandchildren Tanese (Leonard), Terrance *Terry*, Victoria, Victor Jr. and Dimitri. Two great-grandchildren Leonard III *Pooter* and Santana. Her siblings Vera Witt, Herman Serrell Jr., Patricia Dunson, James Serrell and Jeffery Serrell. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Burnester had some special people in her life that she loved so much. Two moms, Eatha Willliams and Mary Ann Davis. A very special auntie, Harristine Witt. Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Burnester Spears, will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 visitation 9:00-11:00AM, funeral service 11:00 AM at Greater Pentecostal Temple 840 Splitlog Ave., Kansas City, KS.
