"Life's Reflections" Edward Edwin Earthly Entrance November 16, 1930 Heavenly Entrance December 4, 2023 Edward Edwin was born November 16, 1930 in Saint Lucia, British West Indies to Elizabeth Edna Edwin. He received his education in Saint Lucia. Edward migrated from Saint Lucia to Martinique at the age of 19 to seek employment. He worked as the head bartender at The Hotel Medsur Lido in Martinique. While at work one day Edward was approached and ask if he wanted to move to the United States to work, his reply was "when do we leave". He gladly accepted the opportunity to begin a new chapter in his life. Edward was embraced by the McCord Family on December 19, 1952 as he left Martinique to start another chapter of his life in Kansas City, Missouri. As Edward began to explore his new surroundings, one of the new places he heard about was The Tracy Community Center at 191h & Tracy Ave. KCMO. He would ride his rally sports bicycle there in less than 30 minutes to play ping pong, and hang out. While there he became friends with Richard Tolbert and their friendship continued. Richard Tolbert had a sister name was Shirley Lee Tolbert. The courtship began between Edward and Shirley a few years Edward worked at Rockhill Tennis Club, Mid Central Fish & Frozen Foods of Kansas City which later became Mid-Central Sysco. He was also self-employed, he owned several properties, a lawn service business, and a catering business. Edward was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, where he was a devoted and faithful member involved in the Knights of Peter Claver. He loved to play cricket, tennis, and dance. Edward and Shirley loved to host their annual Christmas day party, which was a formal affair, you had to come dressed to impress, where the dance floor was his. Edward loved to travel, be it with his family, or on business trips. Wherever he went, the love of his life Shirley was always by his side, putting the brightest smile on his face daily. He loved his Shirley! Edward began his sales career at Mid-Central Fish & Frozen Foods of Kansas City, MO April 3, 1969. Edward Edwin was the first black salesman for a major food company in Kansas City, MO, during his tenure he reached Torchbearer status which is the highest honor for a salesman within the company, meaning annual sales of $1 million dollars, which over the years he reached multiple times. Edward retired in June 1994. Edward is preceded in death by his mother, sisters, brothers, and one grandson Todd M. Edwin, Jr. He leaves to cherish his precious and loving memories, his wife of 61 years Shirley Lee Edwin, five children, Richard (Kendra) Edwin, Todd (Wanda) Edwin, Gary Edwin, Shiela Edwin, and Walter Edwin all of KCMO. One sister Magdalena Emmanuel of Saint Lucia British West Indies, three brothers Robbie Edwin, Henry Edwin, and John Cumberbatch all of London, England, 6 Granddaughters, 7 Grandsons, 5 Great Great-Granddaughter, 4 Great-Great-Grandsons, God children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends not mentioned, but never forgotten.
