Obituary for Travis Claude Wesley

Travis Claude Wesley

September 28, 1985 * March 2, 2025

Travis Claude Wesley, born on September 28, 1985, in Kansas City, Missouri, entered God*s kingdom on March 2, 2025. Travis was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose vibrant spirit and unforgettable smile touched countless lives.

As an Army brat, Travis embraced adventure, making friends wherever life took him * from North Little Rock, Arkansas, to Germany and Junction City, Kansas. Despite frequent moves, Travis flourished, building connections through his humor, warmth, and love for sports.

Travis*s passion for sports began early with T-ball, soccer, and football, but basketball was his true love. While living in Junction City, Kansas, he played on a traveling team and later excelled at Heidelberg American High School in Germany, where he was named Athlete of the Year. One of his proudest moments was earning a spot at the Dirk Nowitzki Basketball Camp * the only American high schooler in Germany to do so. Despite battling cancer at the time, Travis*s determination kept him on the court.

God*s calling on Travis*s life was reflected in his servant*s heart. The summers spent with his grandparents deepened his love for the community. He participated in inner-city marches, attended the Freedom School Summer Program, and remained active in church wherever he lived.

After graduating from Morehouse College, Travis worked in Kansas City, MO; Augusta, GA; and Atlanta, GA. His roles as a Teacher, Basketball Coach, Youth Counselor, Car Associate, and Forklift Operator showcased his dedication to uplifting others. No matter the role, Travis had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved.

Being an uncle brought Travis immense joy. He affectionately called his nephews "Fatstax" Tyson Wesley and "Fatmack" Sevyn Wesley, and lovingly referred to his niece as "My Boo" Jordyn Wesley. Their bond was filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.

A devoted sports fan, Travis proudly cheered for his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and bonded with his brother over their shared love for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Travis also found peace in quiet moments * fishing alone, caring for stray dogs, or surprising his family with unexpected pets like a turtle. His kindness and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Travis was welcomed into heaven by his grandparents, Harold Wesley, Claudia Wesley Nivins, and Carol Brooks. He leaves behind his devoted parents, Claude and Rosalind Wesley of McDonough, GA; his maternal grandfather, Alvin L. Brooks of Kansas City, MO; his brother, Tyreke Wesley (Shakeira) of Atlanta, GA; his cherished nephews, Tyson Wesley and Sevyn Wesley; his beloved niece, Jordyn Wesley; and a host of loving family and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
