Loretta Louise Lucas

Loretta Louise Lucas 67, passed away on July 26, 2015 was born December 9, 1944 in Kansas City, MO. She was the second oldest born to the union of the le Rev. Louis L. and Millie J. Merrill. She went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in deh by her husband Ardis E. Lucas, grandparents, fher, mother, one sister Millicent J. James and one brother Bruce D. Merrill. Loretta tended the Kansas City public schools where she gradued from Lincoln High School. On march 23, 1963, she married her high school sweetheart, Ardis E. Lucas. To this union one child was born, Shelia R. Lucas. Throughout her lkife, Loretta worked for numerous employers th included; TWA, Western Electric, the Kansas City Board of Trade, and the Internal Revenue Service until she came off the work force in order to assist in raising her grandchild, Stanton, the love of her heart. She was involved in several social organizions to include the Midwest Bowling Guild and the Kings and Queens Club. Loretta was a long time member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church where she served as president of the Womens Usher Board until her health began to fail. Loretta loved life, her family, and church. Most of all, she loved the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memories: her only daughter Sheila Renee Lucas (Stan); grandson Stanton; Brothers James Merrill (Joyce), Gordon Porter (Mable); Sisters Barbara Baker, Yvonne Dolin, Anne Jackson, Carolyn Merrill; special friends Pauline Bird and Sister Joyce Shurn along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
