Wesley Lee Davis

Wesley Lee Davis, 67, was the third of three children born to Harold Wesley Davis and Ina Luvenia Davis on March 1, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Johnny Turner, and his nephew Anthony Elijah Turner. Wesley lived a blessed life by the grace of God. Wesley was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District and graduated from Manual High School in 1977. Following high school, he joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably aboard the historic aircraft carrier Mid-Way for four years, followed by an additional two years in the Navy Reserves. After his military service, Wesley worked briefly at Bayer before beginning his long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, from which he retired after nearly 40 years of service. Wesley was also a proud member of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), Branch 30, where he served faithfully as a steward and as a delegate to the National Convention of Letter Carriers for many years. At an early age, Wesley accepted Christ as his Savior. In April 1998, he became a member of Greater Mt. Zion, where he was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Fletcher. While there, he was a member of the male chorus and participated in various church programs, including Mother’s Day celebrations. He also served as an attendant to the First Lady during Pastor and Wife Anniversary services. Wesley spoke at Pastor Fletcher’s retirement celebration, giving a heartfelt testimony of how “good” God had been to him. On June 19, 1999, Wesley was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Jamesetta Davis. Together they shared 27 years of marriage and 29 years of love together. Wesley was a devoted father to his daughters, Shacondra—whom he affectionately called “Connie”—and Lacoma—whom he lovingly called “Comma.” He adored and loved his girls and cherished every opportunity to dote on them. Wesley was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed restoring cars. He had a deep appreciation for music, including R&B, jazz, blues, hip hop, and many other genres. Known for his sharp sense of style, Wesley was always well-dressed and took pride in his appearance. He was also knowledgeable in many subjects, with a particular interest in politics. Wesley’s precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of his beloved wife, Jamesetta Davis; his daughters, Shacondra and Lacoma of Ashdown, Arkansas; his brother, Don Turner (Cheryl) of Kansas City, Missouri; his special nephew, Christopher Turner; his close friends, Melvin Moore and Curtis Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and baby girls.
