Obituary for Mr. Willie Eddie Owens

Willie Eddie Owens was born December 18, 1946 in Damascus, Arkansas to the union of William Jethro and Louchia Owens. His siblings included Margia Trotter, Elizabeth Shedrick and Retha June Owens. Willie confessed Christ Jesus an early age and gave his life to the Lord when he joined Zion Grove Baptist Church under Pastor R. A. Donald. Willie tended and completed his educion in the Menifee, Arkansas Public School system. He gradued from Conway County Training School in 1965, previously known as East Side High School, where he played football and enjoyed being part of the school choir. He also loved his graduing class who were more than just school mes, they were an unbreakable family th he talked about often. After graduion, Willie moved to Kansas City, Missouri and began a 30- year career with General Motors where he retired. He then went in to business for himself owning WEO Tucking, a dump truck service, up unto his deh. Kansas City is also where he met and married the love of his life, Viola Briggs, in 1967. They were the proud parents of Senta and Milene who were their main focus. They cherished raising them according to Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it. The biggest joy of the last 22 years has been his involvement with his grandchildren. He cherished his time with them going out to e, hanging out his house, traveling, tending sporting events and taking them to work with him on his dump truck. He loved his FAMILY deeply; FAMILY was very important to him. Willie was a man who loved the Lord. If you knew him and ever had a conversion with him, he wouldn’t end without saying something about Jesus. He has left a Legacy th we will live on forever. He was very proud to be a member of Community Mission Baptist Church which he joined 47 years ago under the leadership of Pastor Charles D. Bell, Sr. and served faithfully as part of the Male Chorus, Usher Board and as the Church Treasurer. Community Mission Baptist Church, now known as Community Mission Praise and World Outreach Center, is currently under the leadership of Pastor Eartherline Downs. Willie departed this life on January 24, 2020 and entered his walk with Christ. He is preceded in deh by: his wife Viola (Briggs) Owens; fher, William Jethro Owens; mother, Louchia (Criswell) Owens; and sister Retha June Owens.
