Brother Jewell Johnson

A TIME TO BE BORN ~ Jewell was born on November 6, 1932, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to the union of Johnny Johnson and Nelia Gertrude Pierce-Johnson. He was preceded in deh by wife, Barbara Johnson; his parents; five brothers, Clarence Johnson, Howard Johnson, Willie Johnson, Charles Johnson, and William (Harold) Johnson; two sisters, Pearl Johnson-Allen and Yvonne Johnson. A TIME TO PLANT ~ Jewell moved to Kansas City in 1958 and united with the Mariah Walker A.M.E. Church. He was one of the founding members and sang in the Male Chorus. He met and married Barbara Childress. To this union three daughters were born. He also had a stepson. Jewell was employed and retired from both Sleight & Hellmuth Ink Company and Builders Steel. Jewell was a member of Koran Temple #33 Prince Hall Shriners, Prudence Lodge #6, Holy Royal Arch Masons, Knights of Templar and the Order Eastern Star. A TIME TO DIE ~ Jewell, 89 years old, received his wings on Surday, February 19, 2022, and is now resting in his Savior’s arms. A TIME TO MOURN ~ Jewell leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Gwendolyn L. Johnson, Kansas City, Missouri; Dedra L. Johnson, Clearwer, Florida; Trina L. Johnson, Kansas City, Missouri; one granddaughter, Porsche’ L. Johnson, Clearwer, Florida; one adopted granddaughter, Kayla D. King, Kansas City, Missouri; one stepson, Jefra (Yolonda) English, Moreno Valley, California; a special friend, Elbert Super, Kansas City, Kansas; three grand-furbabies, Chloe, Sherlock & London; a host of nieces & nephews; & other relives & friends.
