Obituary for Barbara Ann Coleman Pugh
On February 13, 2025, the Lord called our dear beloved Barbara Ann Coleman Pugh home to rest in God*s Holy Kingdom. She was born May 10, 1943 in Ada, Oklahoma to the late Elvin H. Coleman and Herman Gilbreath-Merritt. To this union, Barbara was the only child.Barbara joined Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of the late paster I. H. Henderson Jr., baptized March 27, 1953. She faithfully served and participated as a Zenbulum Sheepfold, Woman*s Missionary Union (Mary Circle), and Sunday School #7.
As a proud graduate of Central High School, class of 1961, Barbara held her classmates close to her heart. She cherished every reunion, class trip and gatherings, which kept the spirit of friendship alive. Barbara was a devoted mother, friend, and grandmother known for her kindness, warmth and ability to make people feel special. In her honor, we encourage all who knew her to reach out to a family member, old friends to share a fond memory to continue the tradition of staying connected.
During her adult years, Barbara worked at Western electric for five years before embarking on a long and fulfilling career with the Social Security Administration. She dictated 37 years to serving others, retiring with a legacy of hard work, kindness and commitment.Barbara found joy in exploring new places (Italy , African Safar , South Africa, Canada Jamaica and Alaska) meeting people from all walks of life and collecting memories across multiple contents. She especially love the fact that she could visit family members throughout the United States, from the West coast to the East coast.Barbara*s love was unconditional. she made sure her family always knew they were deeply loved.
Though she is no longer with us, her love lives on in the hearts of those she left behind. Barbara leaves a legacy of and fond memories to her five children: Wayne Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri; Marc Wilson of New York, New York; Robyn Weatherspoon ( Graham) of Kansas City, Missouri; Darrin White (Anitra) of Owings Mills, Maryland; Muraad Rashaad Pugh of Kansas City, Missouri, along with eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, devoted family member and friends.
Funeral Service Held, Monday, Feb. 24, 2025. Friendship MBC 3530 Chelsea / KCMO. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM with funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment: XII Gates Memorial Gardens, KCMO
