Alice Marie (Barner) Williams

Alice Marie (Barner) Williams was born May 9, 1940 in Odessa, Missouri. She was born to the union of Jessie and Frank Barner. She had an older brother, John but after her younger brother Richard, was born her mother passed away due to having tuberculosis. Alice and her brothers were raised by different family members but relatives made sure they remained in contact and saw one another often throughout the years. Alice had four brothers in total but all preceded her in death. Alice was raised in Odessa by her father, grandparents, aunts, uncles and neighbors. She truly had a village who cared for her.

Alice attended Douglas High School when schools were segregated but when schools were integrated she stopped attendance and later obtained her G.E.D. Alice married Richard Arlen Williams and the two had three children, Griselda Williams, Kirsten Brooks and Juan Williams. Alice has one granddaughter, Jasmine Jones and one great grandson, Ronan Jones. She also has one niece, Richelle Barner and several cousins from the Boonville, Odessa and Wellington Missouri areas. When her last child went to Kindergarten, Alice worked at an ammunition plant and a plastic factory until she took business classes and worked for a Fortune 500 company in accounts receivable.

Alice loved to read, cook, travel, listen to music, raise flowers and garden, work jigsaw and crossword puzzles and play board and other games. But mostly she loved to take care of and spend time with her family. She was a member of the Mo/Kan Roadrunners RV club with her husband for 20 years. She also traveled a great deal with her daughters and on occasion her granddaughter, in their Travel Buddies Club.
