Obituary for Norma Scholls Cason

Norma Scholls Cason 83 passed away on December 20, 2017 was born July 26, 1934 in Hamilton, MO to Jackson and Lucile Scholls. Norma tended and gradued from Garrison School in Chillicothe, MO. After leaving Chillicothe, she made her home in Kansas City, MO. She tended cosmetology school and gradued from Barber School. She had a love for children and had a childcare in her home. Norma followed the lead of her grandparents, Mother and Dad Harris, and tended the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was active as a Stewardess in Saint John A.M.E. and Bethel A.M.E Churches. She served diligently on the hospitality committee and took gre pride in preparing delicious food made from scrch, as well as decoring for annual church events. She also chaired an Anniversary program Saint John th was highlighted by a Souvenir book th emphasized the ministries of the Church. Norma prepared meals and served the community the Saint James A.M.E. Soup Kitchen and Vine Street Manor. Norma started her day with a cup of coffee and “The Kansas City Star”. She was an avid reader and Harlequin novels were a favorite. Her creive skills were used in her crafts as evidenced in her needle work, hand-made quilts, and embroidery. She taught crocheting and jewelry making classes the Palestine Senior Activity Center in Kansas City, MO. Norma loved to travel and was a go to companion for family members who needed someone to travel with them. It was a must th every trip’s agenda include a layover Macey’s Department Store her favorite place to shop. She is preceded in deh by her parents; brothers Leon, James, and Eugene Scholls; sister, Jean Scholls; step-sister, Doris Steward; sister-in-law, Maxine Scholls; sons, Leon, William, and Ronald Mabery; and grandsons, Rodney Mabery and Leon Grant. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Donnie Cason of Kansas City, MO; step-son, Larry Cason of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Talisha Mabery of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandsons, Jaman Alonzo Hooker, Ronald Mabery, Jr., and Ryan Mabery, Sr., and three gre-grandchildren, Tianna Taylor, Ryan Mabery, Jr. and Ryt Mabery all of Kansas City, MO; daughter-in-law, Theresa Mabery of Lee’s Summit, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
